I've been restoring a Snap-On tool cart. This cart is a model KR 1000 and was made about 1983. The cart was owned by an auto
mechanic in Austin. He recently retired and was clearing up space in the garage. The photos below show the tool cart as it appeared in
a Craigslist posting.
The photos below show the condition of some parts when I began disassembling the tool cart. It is necessary to tape the drawer slides
shut otherwise they tend to roll out and stab you when you least expect it. The middle photo below shows residue left over from gluing
down a drawer liner.
Here are some more photos of parts and cleaning. I tried a lot of different products and found Simple Green was the most effective.
There were limited amounts of rust. Some of the rust was removed with a grinder.
The final product. On the left is the first drawer that was painted. On the right is the tool cart as it currently stands.
